Carmen by Bizet is the most performed opera-comic in the world. Here it is in a completely new version imagined by the conductor of the Lille National Orchestra, Alexandre Bloch. On the program: great soloists, accompanied by texts by Alex Vizorek and drawings by Grégoire Pont.
I wanted to show a different Carmen, where we will have the possibility of going deep into the music, the relationship between the singers and with the orchestra, "says the one who directs the musicians.
The staging is not traditional and the whole space of the auditorium of the Nouveau Siècle de Lille is taken over by this "concert" version of Carmen.
Carmen is a free woman with a fiery temper. Led to prison after having provoked a fight, she fell in love with the handsome brigadier Don José, responsible for his surveillance.
For the eyes of the gypsy girl, the sergeant will let the young woman escape and abandon everything, her fiancée Micaëla and her military rank, to join the smugglers with the rebel heroine and taste freedom. But quickly, Don José will discover the throes of jealousy ... Carmen has no intention of remaining the wife of one man.
The character of Carmen is interpreted by & nbsp; the French mezzo-soprano Aude Extrémo, & nbsp; classic revelation of ADAMI in 2010, & nbsp; Don José is interpreted by Antoine Bélanger, one of the young lyric tenors among the most prominent in Canada. & nbsp;
The Lille Opera Choir, created at the end of 2003, is directed by Yves Parmentier and composed of a core of 24 professional singers from more than half of the Hauts-de-France region .
